Ethan Nakache is a French type designer based in Paris. His journey into typography began with an early fascination with letterforms, sparked during his formative years exploring graffiti on the vibrant streets of Paris. This passion evolved into a deeper interest in calligraphy and traditional letterforms, leading him to study Typography at La Cambre, where he graduated in 2019.
Following an internship at Black Foundry in 2020, Ethan launched his independent practice in 2021. His early typefaces, such as Nuances and Homie (published with Blaze Type), marked significant milestones in the development of his practice.
Ethan has since collaborated with renowned foundries including Heavyweight Type, Fatype, Frere-Jones Type, David Jonathan Ross (DJR), Blast Foundry, and most recently The Designers Foundry, where he released Goodman in 2024.
Today, Ethan divides his time between crafting typefaces for foundries and developing his own font families, with a particular focus on versatile variable type systems.
