    Area is a variable font family of 88 fonts. Revolving around two width: Normal and Extended, matching italics. Two styles: Normal and Inktrap, matching italics. Taking full advantage of the variable technology in order to bring a powerful font system.

    Like any piece of architecture, the design process of Area started with a stable modular geometrical structure. Once the foundations are laid, its envelope slowly unfolds into a more quiet neogrotesque robe, offering a solid base for any reading experience thanks to its smooth grey. Far from being ornamental, Area inktraps have been planned from A to Z to offer the assurance that even in situations that are trickier and require the use of smaller text, everything will remain steady as steel. 

    Area is a playground. It’s been designed to give you the excitement you had as a kid, secretly sneaking onto an empty construction site, in the hope of lifting the veil of an arising building. The disturbance that while everything around you looks normal, being here by yourself makes every turn around a corner a call for surprise. 

    Particularly efficient on screens, Area will bypass all the optical tricks your brain could think of, each pixel being meticulously arranged in order to give high legibility to any glyph. But Area’s uniqueness doesn’t just rely solely on technical finesse, it also hides treasures at its very core. 

    Filled with over twenty-five Geometric inspired alternates, every lowercase benefits at least one unusual alter-ego ready to jump into action. They prove that creativity can be found in the most technical objects: they are like those complex never-seen tools laying on construction site that you’re not sure how to use yet cannot help but touch and observe. 

    Rest assured that we took great care in making them as close to perfect as we could: pushing their weirdness in a path that allows them to fit wherever you wish to use them. May it be for headlines or to add some strangeness to a quiet optical grey. 

    From Hairline to Extra Black, the Area family will provide high readability in all your screen based designs, whether they be for website or smartphone applications. Its historically rooted eccentricity is an open call to visual experimentation while being sure of keeping a reliable layout.
